Left a piece of my heart in the amazing beauties of Arches and Canyonlands NP we drove Westbound. And we did a few hours stops in a small Utah State Park. Goblin Valley State Park. Really amazing. Definitely if you have a little kid, this is the place where you want to bring him. After he will have visited this place, he will never believe the odd stories that goblins don't exist. Goblins really exist and here is where they are all born ... :D

Do you have any idea, other than of course goblins, how those formations came about?

In the pictures you should be able to recognize that the Goblins have a "head" and a "neck". The geologists teach that the "head" is a rock, while the "neck" is mud. Basically there are sparse rocky debris on a bed of mud. When the monsoon season comes, the rain erodes the mud. But some mud (the one just underneath the rocks) is protectd and doesn't flush away. And there you go. A Goblin is created. Of course the life expectation of the Goblins depend from the violence of the rainy season. Again that is what geolostists teach us. But I still believe that Goblins are created from other Goblins. And when they are tired to sleep here in the Valley, they just get their backpack and they start to Walk the Earth. They normally use rainy days when nobody is there watching them to disappear ... :D XA
