CANYONLANDS NP

Less than 20 mile and some million years away from the Arches NP there is an other amazing National Park. Canyonlands. Probably my favourite park in this trip. Again only 20 miles but geologically millions of years away. For me the beauty of this park is the simple and wild feeling that you stand exactly where the World has been created, and the fact that you can watch it here in a unique silence and peace. Very few people gets here. And the landscape is absolutely gorgeous. The Canyons here are much more open than in the Grand Canyon NP. Some differences between the two parks? In Grand Canyon NP you have a railroad coming in and people in the entrance booth 24*7 checking ID ans passes, here you have one lane roads and the entrance booths are unattended. The visitor center in Grand Canyon NP is as big as a shopping mall, here it is as small as your living room. More? The Grand Canyon NP Lodge is as big a Hilton hotel, here you have only campgrounds with no water, no electricity and no flushing water. And the noise of cars and people in Grand Canyon NP, and the pure untouched silence here. This is one of the beauties of this park. It is untouched! And here is where the Colorado River and the Green River to continue as Colorado River. The park is divided in 3 parts. The Needles. The Maze. And Island in the Sky. We visited Island in the Sky ...When we got there is was sunny, but after a while some wonderful rain storm came. Amazing feeling. You could see the clouds getting heavier and leave the rain fall far away. And getting closer and closer. An amazing feeling ...Until we really flet it on our skin. The hair started to pull towards the sky, because of the electrostatic field that the storm was creating. A thunder was going to strike very close to us, and very soon. We took some risk here. And also this funny picture of Tina's hair ...The thunder didn't hit us, and we continue our hiking in an other area of the park ...And of course we had an other speechless, amazing, wonderful sunset. Here some pics ...
