CEMETERY SCREENING

Last Friday nite. At my place. A dinner with friends. We are speaking about weekend plans. Em has a plan. Do you want to go to watch a movie? Sure. What movie? I am not sure, but it is in a special place. Like? Beside Marylin Monroe tombstone. A what? Yes, in the Hollywood Cemetery. You gonna be kidding me, right? No. Mmmm. So are they going to screen a movie in the actual cemetery? Yes. I think we are coming. Cool. And we can also bring food and drinks. In the cemetery? Yes. Ahahaha. This is going to be funny. And this is the day after. 6000, Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood, CA. The line outside the cemetery, with some very strange neighbour ...

We bought also a couple of big pizza and Em prepared some very special cocktails for us ...After almost 1/2 hour outside they finally open the door. Very funny to walk with sleeping bags, pizza boxes looking for the screening area, walking thru tombs ...This are the seats, the three of us waiting for the begin of the movie, and our neighbour, Captain America ...

The setup was just unique and of course, also the movie was just great. Jack Nicholson in one of his masterpieces ...

By the way, at the end we fund out that Marylin is not buried here. She is here in Hollywood. But in an other cemetery. Ehehehe.

WOW, very interesting. Do you have any idea what inspired the cemetery to allow, if not promote, a movie screening on "the property"? Makes me wonder how many, if any, people were upset by the fact that this was done although appropriate for Hollywood. There's a first for everything and this may turn out to be the new rage. I can think of hundreds of movies that could be shown in a cemetery and know that the surroundings would definitely enhance the experience. Good post!
