BLUE ANGELS & FRECCE TRICOLORI

Yesterday Tina and I wander around Seattle. the big thing in town was the exhibition of the Blue Angles. We were pretty lucky to catch some of them flying over the Space Needle. Here is a Blue Angel making some white tail while crossing a humid spot ...... after that we went to the Seattle Museum of Flight (a place you have to see if you spend more than 1 day in town) and we saw the Blue Angels on the ground, but behind a fence ...But the coolest thing for me, Italian, was to see an old Frecce Tricolori (Italian Air Force precision aerobatic demonstration team) airplane outside the museum ...Very cool. But in these days I was also researching on Internet some facts about the Blue Angels. Apparently in their 60+ years history they had 240 pilots and 24 of them lots their life during practices. That makes 10% of lost life's. And even the Frecce Tricolori are not much better. They were involved in a massive crash few years ago. It was 1988. Rumstein, West Germany (at that time). This is the crash. Sixty-seven spectators and three pilots were killed and 346 spectators were seriously injured in the resulting explosion and fire ...... I wonder if it is still worthwhile to organize such air show events. Probably not.
